Immediate Response Fund to assist safety services in the community
Manukau City Council's Community Safety Committee established an Immediate Response Fund in December 2003 as part of the
Council's Crime Prevention Action Plan. The Fund has $30,000 for immediate grants to crime prevention and community
safety services in Manukau.
The Fund is a way for Council to assist crime prevention and community safety services where an unexpected lack or
shortage of funding may threaten the continuation of such services. In the 2003/04 year, the Fund made a $5000 grant to
Counties Manukau Victim Support to enable them to continue their service to the community.
"The Fund provides an excellent opportunity for communities in crisis to approach the Committee for assistance," says
Councillor Barry Keon, chairperson of the Community Safety Committee.
Grants from the Fund are made to support services aligned with Council's strategic safety priorities, and which comply
with specific criteria, for example:
- Addressing one or more values in Council's Community Safety Framework
- Being of benefit to Manukau residents
- Demonstrating significant voluntary and/or financial commitment
- Not having received or been considered for Council assistance for the same purpose in the same financial year
For information on how to submit an application to the Fund, contact Community Safety Planner Helena Maxwell-Numa on 262
