Warning To Local Body Candidates
Candidates wishing to stand for Porirua City Council or the local licensing trust have been urged to get their nominations in as soon as possible by Porirua City’s Electoral Officer Warwick Lampp.
“We have only received four nominations for Council so far and none for the Porirua Licensing Trust.
“We are keen that prospective candidates don’t leave the filing of their nomination forms till the last minute.”
All nomination forms have to be with Council or the Electoral Office by noon Friday August 20.
“Noon August 20 is the cut off point. If there are any issues surrounding the nomination form or payment and they are not rectified by noon, then it will be too late and the nomination will not be accepted.”
Nominations must be signed by two nominators who must be on the electoral roll and living in the same ward as the candidate.
“In simple terms, what we are saying is ‘don’t leave your nomination form till the last minute as it may be too late to fix any problems. Get your nomination form in now.”
