Greater Wellington announces new CFO
Greater Wellington Regional Council announces the appointment of Barry Turfrey as its new Chief Financial Officer.
Greater Wellington Chief Executive, Barry Harris, says, “Mr Turfrey not only brings first class financial skills to Greater Wellington, but is a committed Wellingtonian with a strong interest in environmental matters.”
“Greater Wellington has a good record of sound financial management. I’m confident Mr Turfrey will maintain this record and help us towards our goal of a sustainable region.”
Barry Turfrey has previously held the positions of Chief Financial Officer at NGC Holdings, a publicly listed company and the New Zealand apple exporter Enza. More recently he has been working as a part-time consultant including an assignment at the Department of Corrections.
He has degrees in science and business, is married with three children and lives in Paremata.
Mr Turfrey will take up his appointment on 30 August when the incumbent, Greg Schollum, moves to his new role of Assistant Auditor General (Accounting and Auditing Policy) at the Office of the Auditor General.
