Time running out to apply for environmental fund
For immediate release: Thursday 5 August 2004 Wanting funding for an environmental project? Then don’t delay. Applications for Environment Bay of Plenty’s Environmental Enhancement Fund close on Friday 20 August, and that’s only two weeks away.
Over the past few weeks, the fund’s coordinator Jillian Houghton has received a number of calls from people with ideas for environmental projects in their communities.
Now, she wants to make sure they don’t miss the deadline for getting applications in. “This is a final reminder to everyone to finish all the paperwork and hand their applications over. They haven’t got long to go.“
Ms Houghton is seeking “exciting and innovative projects” that will help promote, enhance or protect the natural or historic character of the environment, public access to it or people’s understanding of it. They can involve wetlands, lakes or rivers, heritage features, outstanding landscapes, historical or archaeological sites or the habitats of indigenous plants and animals.
Now in its fifth year, the fund has about $500,000 to allocate this year to community and district council projects.
