MEDIA RELEASE: Teens Trek the Ranges To Get To Cambodia
16th July 2004
A trip to Cambodia with 8 West Auckland youth and 4 young adults takes a huge amount of commitment and a whole lot of fundraising. Hence the testing 35km trek that shall take place to raise the money for the trip that they expect to change theirs lives.
Who are we?
We are leaders at a youth group, catering for high school aged youth. This group is based at Northwest Baptist Church in Massey, Auckland.
What are we doing?
We are currently fundraising to take 8 of these young people to Cambodia for three weeks in December 2004.
This will be an amazing chance for the young people to expand their worldview and grow in their character by reaching out to a people in great need. We will be working with local churches and aid organisations in Phnom Penh and surrounding villages, supporting, encouraging and serving them.
The particular event we would like to bring to your attention is,
“The Waitakere Traverse”
for which we are collecting sponsors to tramp through the Waitakere Ranges to help us get to Cambodia.
When will this happen?
Our tramp will commence at Whatipu Beach at 8am on Saturday 17th July and finish 35km’s later on Sunday the 18th July at Bethells Beach at midday.
We invite you to join us at the end of the tramp to hear more about our vision and journey and we would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
Thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you there.
