Calling All Ngaiterangi
A registration programme titled Oho Ake (Awaken) is underway aimed at recording as many people as possible who whakapapa (trace their lineage) to Ngaiterangi iwi.
According to kaumatua Hauata Palmer it is vital all people who have links to Ngaiterangi fill in a form with key contact information so the iwi knows how to contact them.
"There is a lot that is very positive going on and we want all of those who can benefit from being part of the iwi to let us know where they are," says Palmer.
"Not everyone knows their whakapapa in detail but people should not let that stop them from registering. We can take the time after they have got in touch to link people together."
Co-ordinator of the project, iwi chief executive Brian Dickson, says those wishing to register can get forms a number of ways.
