Killer attack was frenzied
Police investigating the death of Ellerslie resident Robert Hunt, say he died after a frenzied attack by someone using a
sharp instrument, probably a knife.
The 55 year-old homicide victim was found dead in his Laud Ave home in the early hours of Saturday morning. At the time
of the discovery his car was missing but it was returned to the street between 10.30 and 11pm on Saturday night.
Inquiry head Detective Senior Sergeant Julian Rinckes said Mr Hunt suffered multiple wounds.
"Obviously our scene examination is ongoing and we don’t know yet what that might turn up in terms of evidence or clues.
"However, if a member of the public thinks they’ve found or knows where something is that might be of interest to us,
they should contact the inquiry team on 0800 622 233."
Mr Hunt’s car has been examined and it’s been determined that there is blood in it. Whose blood that is, is yet to be
established.
"We’d like to hear from anyone who noticed a red Honda Integra being driven around the Auckland area between Friday and
Saturday nights – without it’s rear number plate in place," Mr Rinckes said.
"When the car was returned the plate – XF 4860 - had been removed from the rear and was found inside the vehicle."
