CMJ Traffic Bulletin: Sat 10 July - Thurs 15 July
Transit New Zealand would like to advise motorists of proposed closures for work on the Central Motorway Junction
upgrade over the next week.
CMJ Stage 1
Full motorway closures: Monday 12 July - CLOSED ¡V early morning from 12 midnight until 4am: All northbound lanes on the
Southern Motorway over the Khyber Pass Viaduct. Detour: for northbound traffic - off at Khyber Pass off-ramp and on at
Wellington St on-ramp.
Ramp and link closures: Saturday 10 July ¡V CLOSED ¡V during the day and overnight from 6am to 6am on Monday 12 July:
Symonds St on-ramp (SH1 southbound)

Either Boston Rd or Khyber Pass Rd near the motorway ramps
Ongoing motorway lane closures: North and southbound lanes on the Southern Motorway between the Gillies Ave on- and
off-ramps and the Symonds St overbridge ¡V closures at night from 8pm until further notice.
Please choose alternative routes during these closures. Motorists are advised that there could be delays.
CMJ Stage 2 Motorway link closure: Thursday 15 July - CLOSED ¡V overnight from 9pm until 6am the following morning:
Southern to Northwestern Motorway link (SH1 to SH16) Detour: Traffic heading from the Southern Motorway towards Western
Springs and points west will be directed off at the Nelson St off-ramp from SH1 and back on at the Hobson St on-ramp to
rejoin SH16.
The closure is necessary for the relocation of barriers.
The CMJ Project Stage 1 of Transit¡¦s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project covers the section of motorway between
the Upper Queen St over-bridge and Gillies Ave on- and off-ramps and is scheduled for completion in 2005.

Stage 2 of Transit¡¦s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project extends from Bond St on the Northwestern Motorway (SH16)
to the interface with CMJ Stage 1 near Symonds St and from Wellington St on the Southern Motorway (SH1) to Symonds St.
