Auckland City renews support for Grey Lynn Park Festival
Auckland City’s Recreation and Events Committee today approved $25,000 sponsorship for the 2004 Grey Lynn Park Festival.
Councillor Scott Milne, Chairperson of the Recreation and Events Committee says that there has been a lot of hard work done by the voluntary Festival Trust.
“The Grey Lynn Park Festival has really taken flight and morphed into an icon event. The festival is now a commercially viable enterprise with huge support from local residents and businesses and should be capable of attracting substantial commercial sponsorship in the future,” says Mr Milne.
Council officers will now be working with the trust to develop sustainable options for the festival’s future including developing sponsorship opportunities. They will also work with the trust to address traffic and environmental issues.
Auckland City has been a major supporter of the Grey Lynn Park Festival since its inception in 1986.
Next year’s festival is scheduled for Saturday 20 November.
