Successful 'Business Awards 2004' Returns
(Dunedin, Otago, 25 June 2004) The fourth the Westpac Otago Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards 2004 was
launched last night to over 150 people at the 'Business After 5' led by Phillip Moore, Regional Manager, Westpac, and
Bevan Rickerby, Chairman of the Awards organising committee. The Awards is organised by the Otago Chamber of Commerce
and Industry Inc to celebrate business excellence in Otago. Entries are open to all small, medium and large businesses
operating from premises within the region.
The Awards have been a great success giving Dunedin and Otago based businesses the opportunity to be recognised for
their achievements and to promote their company from the Dunedin City Council launch in 1993, and organised by the Otago
Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc biennially since 1998.
John Christie, Chief Executive, of Otago Chamber of Commerce, says organisers have introduced a new nomination process
as part of the Awards and hopes this will encourage more people to nominate a range of companies known for their
business excellence that may not have entered themselves. Self-nomination for businesses is also encouraged.
The success of the Chamber's three previous Awards has seen a high return of sponsors for 2004. These include: ACC,
Allied Press, Dunedin City Council, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, and of course Otago Chamber of Commerce and
Industry Inc and Westpac as supreme sponsor. The organisers are pleased to introduce two new sponsors Anderson Lloyd
Caudwell and Taylor McLachlan Limited.
The Westpac Otago Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards 2004 winners will be announced at a special Awards
ceremony on 12 November 2004 at the Dunedin Town Hall, Dunedin.
Nominations must be received before 30 July 2004. To receive a nomination contact the Otago Chamber of Commerce and
Industry Inc at (03) 479 0181 or from 1 July on visit the Chamber's website at www.otagochamber.co.nz
