ARC Welcomes Funding Approval
The Auckland Regional Council (ARC) welcomes today’s announcement by Transfund to approve over $300 million in funding for two major transport projects in the Auckland region.
The two major projects relate to extending State Highway 20 – one is for the Mt Roskill extension and the other for the Manukau extension. Both include high quality walking and cycling facilities and allow for the further development of other modes of transport.
“This is a major milestone for the region. The way is now clear for these projects to proceed,” says ARC Chair Gwen Bull.
“This decision, combined with additional funding and the changes to Auckland’s transport governance being introduced by Government means that we are now in a situation where genuine progress is being made with transport in Auckland,” says Cr Bull.
“This Government has made significant steps to at last get transport moving in Auckland,” she says.
