Media Statement Fat Boy and Slim to play Music Hall Songs in Cathedral Square
Friday Lunchtime Concert, 25th June 2004, Cathedral Square, 12.15pm to 1.15pm. FREE
Filling a special niche in Christchurch, Fat Boy and Slim will present Edwardian Music Hall and cheeky Cockney songs this Friday in Cathedral Square as part of the FREE Friday Lunchtime Concert Series, produced by Christchurch City Council Leisure.
David Hart and John Jones met years ago through Morris Dancing, and their love of quirky music - especially the British Folk oriented type - bought them together in many whimsical guises, including Bantam of the Opera, and Rural Male.
Songs in their repertoire have the unlikely titles of 'Wotcher', 'The Galloping Major' and 'The End of the Old Cigar'.
Noticeably opposite in statue Fat Boy and Slim describe themselves as 'exponents of fine entertainment' who specialize in toe-tapping tunes of yesteryear, plus lots of hilarity, humour and quick costume changes.
Regular entertainers around Christchurch, David and John have performed at The Edwardian Festival and the Waipara Wine and Food Festival along with many private and corporate gigs.
