Registered Master Builders unveil new home plans for destitute family
An Auckland family living in a sub-standard home which they are struggling to pay the mortgage on, have been given the designs of a new house being built for them free of charge by the Auckland Registered Master Builders.
Continuous infrastructure problems, including a major hole in their living room floor and serious plumbing deficiencies, have been causing havoc for the Onehunga based Ofafonua family which have led to health problems.
Auckland Registered Master Builder Rod Percival, a builder with 37 years experience, says it’s one of the worst houses he has seen and investing money to rebuild the current structure would be a waste of time.
He recently unveiled the designs of the Ofafonua’s new house and Tevita Ofafonua signed a Master Build 7 Year Guarantee and building contract.
“The Ofafonua family are delighted with the plans for their new home while Registered Master Builders are delighted we can offer them this assistance. By signing a Master Build 7 Year Guarantee and contract, the Ofafonua family are assured of quality workmanship and a first class home, instead of the disappointment of past months.
“With the assistance of a wide range of suppliers including PlaceMakers, Winstone Wallboards, Tasman Insulation, Clearlite, Tenon, James Hardie, Taubmans, Mercury Bay Design, Sika, Hirepool, Ward Demolition, Craig Walker house movers, APL and Alpwood Joinery, Door Styles, Hills Flooring, Maurice Kain, Sylvia Sandford Design, the BCITO, and many more contractors still to be confirmed, and with members of Auckland Registered Master Builders working around the clock, we hope to have the family in their new home in a couple of months.”
The new home will be built in an Auckland warehouse before being transported back to the Ofafonua’s current address. Work on the project is expected to start immediately.
