Rangatahi Day in Parliament
Christchurch City Council chambers are providing the venue for a Rangatahi Leadership Day in Parliament tomorrow for youth to learn and practice leadership skills.
Rangatahi Day in Parliament is a Kaitataki A Rohe Maori Women’s Welfare League initiative hosted by Te Waipounamu Maori Women’s Welfare League.
Rangatahi Leadership Day in Parliament aims to promote and encourage rangatahi in leadership roles within a mock parliament setting.
14 secondary school students from six local high schools have already been organized into two parties, each with its own adult mentors to support them. They have prepared for the day by developing procedures for running tomorrow’s mock parliament. The key topic for the parliamentary debate is race relations.
