Update on Matthew Larkins
Matthew Larkins, the victim of the assault that occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 23 May in Hastings, remains in what is described as a serious but stable condition in Hawke’s Bay Hospital, Hastings.
His mother and brother have arrived from Australia to be with him.
They have been overwhelmed by the support they have received and the offers of help and accommodation.
They wish to express their thanks to everyone involved, especially the members of the public who went to Matthew’s aid on the night of the attack.
They would like to thank both the Hastings Police and staff at Hawke’s Bay Hospital for the support they have provided.
They would also like to acknowledge the help they have been given by both Foreign Affairs in Australia and the Australian Consulate in Wellington.
Matthew’s mother, Mrs Suzanne Bradley and his brother Jeremy Larkins describe Matthew as an easy-going, hardworking person who is well thought of within the shearing communities both here and at home in Australia.
Matthew has been coming to New Zealand for a number of years and has worked in both the North and South Island, and has a real fondness for New Zealand.
