Positively Pacific Aranui Fono
The media is invited to attend the Positively Pacific Aranui Fono, this Friday 14 May, 9am-1.30pm at the Wainoni/Aranui Family Centre,31 Hampshire St.
Pacific Island people living in Aranui will be at the fono to have their say on what they want for their community.
The fono is being organised as part of Aranui Community Renewal – a partnership between the Aranui community, Christchurch City Council and Housing New Zealand Corporation. Other organisations including Work & Income, Pacific Island Evaluation Inc, Community Employment Group, Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs and Burwood/Pegasus Community Board will also be represented at the event.
“We want to know what Pacific Island people think should be done in the community and how they think we can get there,” Aranui Community Trust co-ordinator Rachael Fonotia said.
Young and old alike are hoped to attend the fono, which will be kicked off by guest speakers; Sky TV NRL presenter, Peter Ropati and Niu FM DJ, Sela Alo.
A pacific lunch will be provided..
