City Volunteers Recognised
Manukau City Council is to once again recognise the people of Manukau who volunteer their time and energy to their city
and community.
Manukau Mayor Sir Barry Curtis says, "Our volunteers' recognition evening raises community awareness of the vital work
these people undertake in Manukau and communicates to the wider community how much we value our volunteers.
"Each year these dedicated individuals make a huge contribution towards supporting the essential services in our
community and enhancing the lives of our people. I believe it is fitting we hold a civic function to officially thank
them for the marvellous work they do.
"We are seeking our Councillors and Community Board members' assistance along with the public's help in the nomination
of volunteers to be invited to this celebration on 1 July 2004. If you know of someone deserving of this recognition,
please fill in a nomination form".
Forms are available from Council's Citizen and Customer Centre, Manukau Libraries, Citizens Advice Bureaux, Howick
Information Service, Community Houses and Leisure and Arts Centres. Completed nomination forms should be forwarded to
Council by Friday 28 May. Late applications will be held over to the following year.
Due to space restrictions at the function venue, numbers attending may be limited.
Many of Manukau's organisations could not function without the invaluable service of hardworking volunteers and Manukau
City Council itself relies on volunteers to deliver a number of crucial services to the community. This is your
opportunity to have your say and reward someone special for their contribution to the community.
