$5000 for a safer community
The Community Safety Committee today approved from its Immediate Response Fund a one-off grant of $5048 to the Manukau
Victim Support group.
Each year, Manukau Victim Support and its volunteer workers assists more than 10,000 men, women and children in our
community who have been emotionally or physically affected by crime, accident or emergency.
As Manukau Victim Support is only partially funded by Government, it relies on community support to be able to continue
its work. The group's goals and objectives, and also its achievements, are closely aligned with Council's strategic
priorities for building a safer community. Therefore, assisting the group is one way Council can respond positively to
an immediate safety and crime concern in Manukau.
"It is our goal to build a strong and vibrant community. Assisting a group like Manukau Victim Support to help victims
of trauma feel safe and able to take control of restoring their lives is a step forward to achieving our goal," says
Councillor Barry Keon, chairperson of the Community Safety Committee.
