General Aerial Operation On Today – Wednesday, 31 March 2004
The scheduled general aerial operation, against painted apple moth, is ON today - Wednesday, 31 March 2004.
Today’s general aerial operation, postponed since yesterday due to windy conditions, will take place in the small risk area in Ranui/Swanson. Scheduled aerial operations have been scaled down to this one remaining risk area covering 253 hectares.
As a guide, given favourable weather and the completion of an operation in a single day, then it is highly likely that treatment in Ranui/Swanson will start at first light, around 6.15am, and finish before 8am this morning.
If it is necessary to continue the operation beyond this time then, even though the aircraft may be in the air, there will be NO treatment between 8am and 9am as children travel to school.
Up-to-date details and a map of the scaled down aerial treatment area is available online at www.maf.govt.nz/paintedapplemoth or the public can call the free information line
0800 96 96 96 for details.
One of the best ways to keep up-to-date with the status of aerial operations is to register for text or email updates. To register people can call the free information line or register online on the residents’ page at the above website.
Status updates on general aerial operations are broadcast on More FM 91.8FM and Newstalk ZB 1080AM or 89.4FM.
