Artstation draws the line at turning the corner
Auckland artists Rachel O’Neill and Susie Pratt bring their collaborative drawing exhibition Turn the Corner to the Artstation Gallery from 20 April to 1 May 2004.
Both Pratt and O’Neill, final year students at Elam School of Fine Art, have an experimental approach to making art. The drawings in Turn the Corner do not simply consist of pencil on paper, they create an intersection between two and three-dimensional art-making. Pratt’s methods combine drawing with animation and sound, while O’Neill’s link drawing to performance. In Turn the Corner they push drawing off the wall and into the exhibition space.
Last year O’ Neill and Pratt collaborated on Direct Draw, an exhibition at the George Fraser Gallery. They created distinct yet related works based on the interconnections of lines. The pair intend to collaborate more intensely in Turn the Corner and to make an entirely new site-specific installation for the Artstation Gallery.
