Trust opens new office for Aranui community
Christchurch East MP Lianne Dalziel will officially open the Aranui Community Trust’s new premises at 37 Hampshire St,
this Friday 26 March.
“The new office will be a place for everyone in the local community to visit, who has a concern or initiative for which
they need support,” Trust chairman Rob Davidson said.
“Even if the Trust cannot help directly we will be pointing people in the right direction for help with issues relating
to health; employment and training; and services for children, youth and families,” he said.
After a greeting and welcome from local ministers, Sandy Kaa and Samuga Vili, Friday’s official opening will include
speeches from Minster of Social Services and Employment, Ruth Dyson; Christchurch Mayor, Garry Moore; and Ms Dalziel.
Everyone in the Aranui community is invited to attend the event which will start at 1pm and finish with refreshments at
2.30pm.
The Aranui Community Trust office has been set up using money from the Stronger Communities Action Fund given to the
Trust in an agreement between it, Christchurch City Council and Child Youth and Family Services.
Other community advancement projects in Aranui are also benefiting from the annual government grant, which has been
awarded to the Trust for the next four years. Several of these projects have been identified through Aranui Community
Renewal – a partnership between the Trust, Christchurch City Council and Housing NZ Corporation.
