Oscar goes walk-about!!
Friday March 26th, function in Mayors Lounge, 1st Floor Civic Offices Tuam Street, 11.30am, walkabout in Cathedral Square 12noon.
Mayor of Christchurch, Garry Moore will have two very special guests on his Mayoral Forum walk-about in Cathedral Square this Friday ... sound designer, Hammond Peek and his OSCAR won for sound mixing on Lord of The Rings, The Return of the King at the 2004 Academy Awards.
Shortly before the walk-about at noon, The Mayor will host a reception for Hammond and others around Canterbury who worked on the Lord Of The Rings film trilogy. Notable amongst those are the Christchurch actors Michael Elsworth who was the body double for Gandalf and Brett Beattie who was the double for Gimli. Cooper (barrel maker) at Ferrymead, David Bain, will be sparing time to attend as he has moved on from The Lord of the Rings to props work for Peter Jackson's next opus ...King Kong.
