Busy Week Ahead In ARC Rates Battle
The week ahead will see significant moves in the ongoing battle between the Auckland Regional Council and its ratepayers.
On Monday the Council is due to report the latest position on the number of ratepayers who are continuing to withhold all or apart of their rates.
The Council meets at 4pm in the ARC council chamber.
At the same meeting the Council must try again to approve a Draft Plan for the next financial year - without which no new rate can be set.
Last Monday, by a majority of 6 - 5, the council voted not to adopt the Draft Long Term Community Council Plan [LTCCP] in which it is proposed that the rating policy will continue unchanged with a further 3% increase on top of last years huge rates bill.
On Tuesday Rebellion spokesman David Thornton will speak at a meeting of the Pohutukawa Coast & Waiheke Grey Power Association at which he will report on Monday's ARC meeting and the Rebellion campaign's response. That meeting is at 10.30am at the Ostend War Memorial Hall, Waiheke Island.
Next Sunday the Orewa Ratepayers are holding a meeting at 2.pm in the Orewa Community Hall under the chairmanship of local Rebellion co-ordinator and Orewa Ratepayers President, John Drury.
Also arranged is a public meeting for North Shore residents on Sunday April 18th at the Marlborough Hall, Glenfield at 2.pm.
