The Porirua City Council will allow the public to make submissions on a proposed 64 lot rural subdivision north of Pukerua Bay. The application for a subdivision at Tunapo Farm has was lodged by Upper Hutt Developments (No 6) Limited.
The Deputy Chairperson of Council's Environment Committee, Cr Robert Shaw, said the decision made by council officers "was appropriate and would be welcomed by many".
Officers decided the effects of the plan were officially "not minor" and accordingly advised the applicant that it would be publicly notified.
Cr Shaw said the applicant had the right to have the application considered against the existing rules for the rural zone that are in the District Plan. Those who wanted to have submissions considered would also have to cast them in accordance with the existing rules.
Cr Shaw said he was confident the Council would produce decisions on this application within the time frame set out in legislation. "The clock is ticking" he added.
