Residents Group outraged at lack of consultation over Drug facility
Peninsula Action Group
A group of concerned Te Atatu Peninsula residents are opposing Waitakere City Council’s recent decision to grant a certificate of compliance to Higher Ground Drug Rehabilitation Trust for a Drug Rehabilitation Centre on the premises of the current Totara Court Rest Home in Te Atatu Peninsula.
The Peninsula Action Group believes that it is unacceptable that a Council who was elected on a platform of public consultation have granted consent to the Drug Rehabilitation Centre without allowing any opportunity for the local residents to express their views.
It is believed that Council have both a legal and a moral obligation to consult, and the Peninsula Action Group are currently pursuing their legal remedies against Waitakere City Council.
