Mayoral Flood Relief Fund
In the wake of Monday's widespread floods Hutt City Mayor John Terris has announced the establishment of a Mayoral Flood Relief Fund.
"Large parts of Hutt City were hit by surface flooding with the worst hit areas around the Waiwhetu Stream AND EASTBOURNE," said Mayor Terris.
"My Council will be making a significant contribution to the fund and I hope Hutt City businesses and individuals in a position to do so will also see fit to make a donation.
"A committee of community representatives will be formed to oversee distributions from the Fund."
Anyone wishing to make a donation can do so at any Westpac Bank, account number 05310758099-00.
At its peak around 100 people were evacuated from their homes in Riverside Drive, Waiwhetu, Bell Road Gracefield, and Eastbourne. 500 were moved from the Hutt Park Motor Camp and housed in the Petone Workingmen's Club.
