On yer bike!
Aucklanders are being encouraged to support National BikeWise Week by getting on their bikes for the annual Bike to Work Breakfast.
The Bike to Work Breakfast, held from 6am to 9am on Wednesday 18 February 2004, urges people to take a break from their regular commuting habits. It promotes the value of cycling as a healthy and environmentally friendly means of transport.
This is the eighth year Bike to Work has been run by Auckland City. It is a free event and anyone with a bike can participate.
Each participant will receive a sticker on arrival at Aotea Square which entitles them to a free breakfast, courtesy of the sponsors, and the chance to win a new bike. There are also spot prizes to be won, including cycle products such as helmets and t-shirts.
Cyclists will have access to information on cycle ways and off-road routes, as well as the opportunity to get their bikes checked free of charge.
Bike to Work Day is proudly supported by Auckland City More FM, Auckland Regional Council, URS and Bicycle Industry Association of New Zealand (BIANZ).
