Call goes out for community funding applications
Auckland City is inviting applications from community groups who want financial help through its Community Group
Assistance Funding (CGAF) round.
The $410,000 fund is used to help groups working with Auckland’s diverse communities. Grants from it can cover
operational costs, like staff training and marketing, and costs associated with specific projects.
To be eligible for funding, the activities of a community group must have a city-wide focus (ie benefit more than three
Auckland City community board areas). Groups also need to prove their ability to manage a grant and account for the use
of public money.
Auckland City’s manager of community resourcing, Heather Owen, says “we welcome applications from all eligible community
groups who can show that their service or project will help Auckland City to build strong and healthy communities. “
“This is a great opportunity for community groups to do more of what they do and do it better.”
Each year about 120 community, arts, cultural and social service groups benefit from the Auckland City funding scheme.
Examples of groups that received funding in 2003 were Matariki Komiti, Toi Ora Live Art Trust, the Kiwi Music
Advancement Trust, Auckland Deaf Society, Falepipi He Mafola Niuean Handcraft Group and Auckland Refugee Network.
