Dave Dobbyn offers fans a wild time at Auckland Zoo this Friday!
All loyal Dave Dobbyn fans and absolutely everyone wild about great music should come along to see this kiwi music icon
playing at Auckland Zoo this Friday evening (January 16, from 5.30pm).
To really help you get in the mood we’ve also added the talented Damien Binder (as support act). You just add…a yummy
picnic, the company of your family and friends, and you’re in for a slice of music heaven in the magical setting of
Auckland Zoo!
“This is the third in a series of six special ASB ZooMusic concerts we’ve got happening over summer, and it’s definitely
one not to be missed,” says Jackie Sanders, Auckland Zoo Events Co-ordinator. “It’s an opportunity to see two absolutely
outstanding musicians for a great price (just normal zoo admission prices apply), and what better way for both workers
and holiday makers to chill out and start their weekend.”
Dave Dobbyn, famous for such songs as Slice of Heaven, Whaling, Be Mine Tonight, Beside You, Just Add Water and others,
is the writer of 5 of the 30 APRA (Australasian Performing Right Association) Top 30 New Zealand Songs of the past 75
years.
Damien Binder, who has been the support act for international artists such as Marianne Faithfull and David Gray,
released his outstanding second album ‘Til Now’, in September last year. Binder (along with his colleague Robert
Shepheard), was also a finalist in the 2003 APRA Silver Scroll for Songwriter of the Year for Binder’s song ‘Til Now’.
Normal zoo admission prices apply for this, and all upcoming ASB ZooMusic concerts ($13 adults, $10 students and $7 for
children 4 years and over). Friends of the Zoo members receive a 20 per cent discount on entry after 4.15pm.
Darwin’s café, which fully caters for both adults and children, will be open, along with the zoo’s Wild Zone Gift Shop.
The zoo will close at 9pm.
