Manukau’s Keen Teens Wanted!
Looking for something fun and exciting to do outdoors these holidays? How about sea kayaking, or testing your mountain
biking skills on off-road tracks? Could you meet the challenge of a ropes course or solve an action mystery?
Get into outdoor action with Manukau City Council’s Manukau On The Move team. Their one week Teen Extreme programme
offers a range of outdoor adventure pursuits for 12 to 16 year olds. Running from Monday 19th to Friday 23rd January
participants can select which days they want to attend or for the really keen, attend the whole week!
Programme co-ordinator, Shane McGuire, says ‘This programme will suit enthusiastic teenagers who are keen to take up the
challenge of swimming, mountain biking, and kayaking. All activities are outdoors.”
Monday sees teens mountain biking and Tuesday is Beach Party – a lot more than your average day at the beach! Wednesday
is the challenge ropes course with high and low rope activities, and Thursday sees participants completing outdoor
activities to solve a mystery challenge. The week finishes with a great day of sea kayaking and exploring new coastlines
on Friday.
Teen Extreme runs from 19 to 23 January, with all specialist equipment and qualified instruction provided. Cost is $40
per day or $175 for the whole week. Bike hire is $15 for those who don't have their own. Pick up and drop off points are
at the Howick and Allan Brewster Recreation Centres.
