Council wishes dog owners a great outdoor Christmas
Manukau City Council wants all dog owners to have a very merry Christmas and Happy New Year by remembering to follow a
few helpful tips.
“It has been a stressful year for dog owners where the actions of the irresponsible few have put everyone under the
spotlight,” says Kevin Jackson, Manager Environmental Health & Compliance.
He wants all dog owners to enjoy a summer outdoors with their dogs.
“Its important for the safety and comfort of other people using public spaces that you:
- keep your dog under control at all times
- know where you can take your dog
- know when your dog must be on a leash
- remember to carry a leash with you in an off leash area
- carry something to clean up after your dog goes to the toilet
“Council’s contractor DSS Ltd – Animal Management will be enforcing access and leash laws, and is conducting blitzes in
popular beaches, parks and reserves to ensure the actions of the few irresponsible dog owners do not affect responsible
dog owners and other members of the public enjoying the outdoors”, says Mr Jackson.
