SH1 to SH16 Link Road to move to new underpass
Transit New Zealand advises all motorists travelling in the Grafton Gully area that the Southern (SH1) to Northwestern (SH16) link road will be moved this weekend. The link will move closer to the Wellesley Street Bridge, into a new concrete underpass structure.
No existing traffic movements will be affected, but motorists are asked to take extra care when travelling through the underpass for the first time.
Completion of the new link road is weather dependent. In the event of bad weather the opening of the new underpass will be postponed.
Regular closure
The SH1 Wellesley Street off-ramp (northbound heading into the city) and the new SH16 on-ramp (westbound) will both be closed over the weekend from 7am Saturday 18 until 6am Monday 20 October.
Motorists are advised to use alternative off-ramps to access the city.
Transit thanks all residents and road users for their co-operation.
For more information about the work, please phone 0800 TO FREEFLOW (863 733) or visit the public information centre on the corner of Alten Road & Stanley Street, Grafton.
