Public consultation proves popular
Nearly two thousand people have attended the first three public consultation days on the various corridors and alignment
options for the Eastern Transport Corridor.
Theresa Walsh from Opus International Consultants says she is pleased with the positive response to the call for
feedback on the options.
The team of planners, engineers and property specialists, on hand to answer questions, were kept busy on Thursday at
Botany Downs, Saturday at the Pakuranga Community and Cultural Centre and at St Johns on Wednesday, as a steady stream
of people moved through the displays.
Opus now moves to the Parnell District School on Gladstone Road on Saturday, October 11 (9am-4pm), the Panmure District
School on Tuesday, October 14 (4pm-8pm) and at the Orakei Community Centre on Wednesday, October 15 (4pm-8pm).
“Most of the enquiry so far is from people wanting to know about their individual properties. People seem to be quite
calm about the overall project and can see there is a process to go through to get to the recommended preferred option,”
Walsh says.
She says all the information collected by the Opus team from the public is fed back into the investigation on the
options.
“The project is at an important stage. It’s crucial people who have an interest in the Eastern Transport Corridor attend
one of the consultation days and to record their opinion.”
