Revised plans for Keith Hay Park focus on safety
Mt Roskill residents are invited to have their say on Auckland City’s latest plans for enhancing the recreational facilities at Keith Hay Park.
The concept for the park is to develop and improve it as a focal point for the community with a range of activities, from organised sports to walking and relaxing.
The revised plan takes into account feedback from public consultation in August and September on options for the park. While the concept of the project looks to improve the park through looking at such things as car parking, landscaping, upgraded playgrounds, a skateboarding area, seating and walkways, the public have also expressed interest in improving safety, especially in the centre of the park where the main entrance and car park are (off Arundel Street).
The revised concept plan takes into account suggestions made by the public in terms of such safety considerations as: fencing the playground near the central car park locking the gates to the car park at night addressing the safety of pedestrians walking through the car park.
Mt Roskill Ward Councillor Graeme Mulholland says: “It is essential that as many people as possible take the opportunity to comment on the plans, as previous feedback and ideas were invaluable in formulating the plan with our open space planners.”
The revised plan can be viewed and comment forms completed at the Mt Roskill Community Library, Wesley Community Centre and Tri-Star Gymnastics Building at the Arundel Street entrance to the park.
People can also see the plans and speak to council officers at an open day, which will be held at the gymnastics building on Sunday, 12 October from 11am to 3pm.
The last day for feedback is Monday, 20 October.
