Nominations Call For Mangere Ward By-Election
Nominations are now open to fill the position of Mangere Ward Councillor vacated by the resignation of John Kerr.
Prospective candidates can obtain a nomination form by phoning 263 7100. Nominations close at noon on 22nd of October
and should be addressed to the Electoral Officer, Civic Building, Manukau City Council, Private Bag 76917, Manukau City.
All nominations must be accompanied by a $200 deposit.
Electoral Officer John Skelton says, “A candidate information evening will be held on Monday, 13 October at Nga Tupuwae
College, Buckland Road, Mangere, between 6.30pm and 7.30 pm. It is an opportunity for aspiring candidates to find out
about the election process, their responsibilities under the Local Electoral Act and what it means to be a Councillor.
“The election will run as a postal vote with all registered electors receiving their voting forms in the mail between 19
and 21 November. Voting forms must be returned by Thursday 11 December at twelve noon”, says Mr Skelton.
The election is open to all residents of Mangere who are on the general electoral roll and people who own property in
Mangere, but do not live there, who are on the Ratepayers roll.
To check whether they are on the roll, people can inspect the rolls in PostShops, libraries and Council’s Citizen and
Customer Centre, Ground Floor, Kotuku House, Manukau Square.
