Weekend roadworks on lower Grafton Road
Transit New Zealand advises all motorists travelling through Grafton Gully that there will be major road works on lower Grafton Rd this weekend.
From 8pm tonight until 5am Monday morning, access from Symonds St across the bridge on Grafton Rd (heading towards the Auckland Domain and Auckland Hospital) will be closed. The right hand turn from Stanley St onto the bridge on Grafton Rd will also be closed.
All other traffic movements through the intersection will be possible; however there may be delays due to changes in lane markings.
Motorists are advised to consider alternative routes where possible.
When access re-opens at 5am on Monday morning, traffic travelling on Grafton Road will have moved to a raised alignment. Traffic movements through the area will be unchanged.
These changes are part of ongoing work on the Grafton Gully project, which is scheduled for completion in December.
Regular closure The Wellesley Street off-ramp northbound will be closed over the weekend from 7am tomorrow morning (Saturday 27 September) till 7pm on Sunday night (28 September). Motorists are advised to use alternative off-ramps to access the city.
Transit thanks all residents and road users for their co-operation.
For more information about the work, please phone 0800 TO FREEFLOW (863 733) or visit the public information centre on the corner of Alten Road & Stanley Street, Grafton.
