4 Man Bob to Play Cathedral Square
Free Friday Lunchtime Concert, Friday 5 September, 12.15pm to 1.15m, Cathedral Square.
High-energy ska band 4 Man Bob - a six piece band - will play Cathedral Square this Friday.
Ska is Jamaican influenced dance music, popular through the 1960's, revived in the 1980's, and popular again today with
the likes of The Special Beat and No Doubt bringing this unique style of music into the charts.
4 Man Bob are a local act, who performed at The Op Shop Ball last year - part of the Rapid youth festival - and have
played all over New Zealand at festivals, pubs and University events.
Noel Hungergford is the initiator of the band. He describes the band thus: " I play a loud guitar and sing in a loud
gravely voice. Brendan Grant is another loud guitarist. This guy has the moves as well as the grooves and has been known
to appear onstage wearing nothing but dungarees over his briefs, with a baby's jumper on his head. Tim Gillon is the
bass man and king of all things groove. Fraser Hungerford is my baby brother and trumpet player extraordinaire. Phil
Wooding on sax is the real talent behind the band, and Chris Head tries real hard to play drums." 4 Man Bob will be
mixing ska with a touch of old school swing this Friday lunchtime, in Cathedral Square.
