Targeted Winter Aerial Operation On Today – Tuesday 26 August 2003
The current targeted winter aerial operation against the painted apple moth will start, as planned, this morning (Tuesday 26 August) at 7am.
Today’s operation will take place in the 5 small winter target areas covering a total area of less than 900 hectares.
As a guide if the operation is completed today, it is expected that Waikumete and Riverpark areas will be treated from 7am followed by Motions/Meola Creek. There will be no spraying during 8am to 9am when most children travel to school. Aerial operations in Hobsonville and Ranui will start from 9am and weather permitting all spraying should be finished by 12 noon.
The public can call the free phone 0800 96 96 96 for information or listen to MoreFM(91.8FM) or Newstalk ZB (1080AM) for updates. People can also visit www.maf.govt.nz/paintedapplemoth to view a map of the Winter Target Areas.
