CURRENT TARGETED WINTER AERIAL OPERATION EXPECTED TO GO AHEAD TUESDAY 26 AUGUST 2003, WEATHER PERMITTING
The current targeted winter aerial operation, against the painted apple moth, is expected to go ahead, as planned, on Tuesday 26 August 2003, weather permitting.
Weather patterns are looking favourable for an aerial operation tomorrow and a final decision as to the operation starting in the morning will be made before first light.
Tomorrow’s operation is due to take place in the 5 small winter target areas covering a total area of less than 900 hectares.
As a guide if the operation is completed in one day, it is expected that Waikumete and Riverpark areas will be treated from 7am followed by Motions/Meola Creek. There will be no spraying during 8am to 9am when most children travel to school. Aerial operations in Hobsonville and Ranui will be after 9am and all spraying should be finished by 12 noon.
The public can listen to MoreFM(91.8FM) or Newstalk ZB (1080AM) from 6.30am for status updates or call the free phone 0800 96 96 96 for information. People can also visit http://www.maf.govt.nz/paintedapplemoth to view a map of the Winter Target Areas.
