Easy access to council Forms
Manukau City Council is making one of life's necessary chores - filling out official forms - a little bit easier for its
citizens.
People and organisations needing to fill out most forms from the council can now access them from the council's website:
www.manukau.govt.nz/forms.htm
A full on-line response is to be introduced next year, but in the meantime citizens & customers will need to print, fill out and post or fax forms to the Council. The new system avoids the need to visit a
council service centre or telephone for a form to be posted out.
There are more than 100 different forms for a variety of activities touching every aspect of Council's activities -
ranging from community facility hire and resource consent applications to burial plots and funding applications - for
which the public need to fill in a form.
The forms have been redesigned and simplified for easier use in association with the first stage of the electronic
access programme.
Glenn Teal, the Portfolio Manager for Manukau City's Citizen and Customer Services Unit, says the electronic access to
forms is another step in the council's move towards incorporating as much e-technology into its business practices as
possible.
"This first stage in providing electronic access to our forms is a small step which will be complete when we are able to
receive applications and forms electronically," says Mr Teal.
"It gives people immediate access to forms whereas previously they could have been waiting several days for a form to
be posted, or they would have had to come into one of our service centres to collect a form."
Mr Teal says there are many Council functions for which forms need to be completed and, as such, the Council wants to
make the process as easy as possible.
He says the ability to access forms on line is another example - albeit a small one with this first stage - of the
Council heading towards being an e-technology based Knowledge Led Council.
For people who do not have access to a computer, forms can still be requested from the council's Call Centre, tel:
262-5104, by faxing the Council fax: 262-8934 or by calling in to one of the Council's service centres, libraries or a
citizens' advice bureau office to collect a form.
