Crunch Meeting With Arc Today - Answers Demanded
I am taking a deputation to the Auckland Regional Council today August 4th, at 4pm, to meet with any ARC councillors or officials who are available to get action on the list below.
This meeting is at our insistence - and at time convenient to my colleagues. And is in response to the ARC claim that they will talk to anyone about the rates issue.
Councillor Mike Lee has agreed to meet with us and is to contact other members urging them at meet with us also. Councillor Paul Walbran has also indicated he wants to meet with us.
The matters we wish to resolve with the ARC are as follows
1. Deferment of 'Due Date' for payment from 6th August to 15th September. 2. Agreement to 'open up' methods of payment. 3. To obtain agreement that no penalties be added for non-payment for an agreed period. 4. To obtain ARC's reasons and explanations why rates cannot be reset this year. 5. To put our case and reasons for resetting the rates this year through our "7 Steps to Resolution"
The members of the deputation to accompany me [on behalf of North Shore City ratepayers] will be John Drury [Orewa], Ron Mottram {Rodney Combined Ratepayers},Grant Taylor [Manukau City], Ken Elcoat [Waitakere City], Elaine West [Auckland City]
The meeting will last one hour and a further statement will follow that at about 5.pm
Our aim is to force a statement from the ARC today on the issues raised above - especially items 1,2, & 3
