New appointment to Aotea Centre Board
Auckland City Council has approved the appointment of Daniel Te Puna Tumahai QSO as the tangata whenua representative director on the Aotea Centre Board of Management.
At yesterday’s council meeting the chairperson of the council’s Finance and Corporate Business Committee, Councillor Douglas Armstrong, and the chairperson of the board, Mr David Wolfenden, confirmed the appointment of Mr Te Puna Tumahai to the board for a period of three years.
Mr Te Puna Tumahai holds several high profile directorships, including Vice Chairman of Ngati Whatua o Orakei Maori Trust Board. Mr Te Puna Tumahai’s appointment was supported by Sir Hugh Kawharu, the current tangata whenua representative. Sir Hugh decided not to seek reappointment having served three terms.
There are seven board members plus a chairperson and Sir Hugh was the only director whose term expired this year.
