Time to Comment on Council’s Dog Control Policy
Submissions on proposed changes to the Christchurch City Council’s dog control policy close on July 18
A pamphlet outlining the suggested changes has been posted to all registered dog owners and is available to the general public through Council service centres and Christchurch City Libraries. It can also be read on the website http://www.ccc.govt.nz/HaveYourSay
Comments can be made by returning the pamphlet freepost, writing to the Council’s environmental policy leader or through the Have Your Say website.
The Council decided at its March 2003 meeting that the proposed changes should be distributed for public consultation. The alterations focus on making regulations easier for dog owners to understand; protecting popular beach areas from fouling; increasing children’s safety and; preventing dogs from causing harm to sensitive wildlife areas.
