Funding assistance available to Manukau groups
Applications are now open to Manukau City Council's discretionary fund.
Funding assistance is available to community groups and organisations for community, economic and environmental projects
and services in the city.
Projects which take place in two or less adjacent city wards are eligible for the discretionary fund's Locally Based
Projects/Services category. Applications close on Thursday 31 July and will be considered by the relevant community
board.
Previous successful applications funded first aid training courses, a driving enhancement programme in secondary schools
and material to update and complete a playground area.
Community organisations that wish to provide holiday programmes and activities in the September school holidays can now
apply to the discretionary fund's School Holiday Programme category. Again, applications close on Thursday 31 July and
will be considered by the relevant community board.
Funded holiday programmes in April included dance, drama and art workshops, art and craft activities and trips to the
hot pools and Sonshine Ranch.
Funding team leader, Ms Jenny Young, says that applicants are expected to also obtain funding from alternative sources.
"Council's allocation is a contribution to the total cost of the project or service."
Information on these funds and applications forms are available on council's website, www.manukau.govt.nz/funding.htm or
by phoning 09-262 8900, extension 8367.
