Council transforms its operations
Manukau City Council has undergone the biggest change in its business practices in more than 30 years with the
successful introduction of its Business Transformation Project.
The upgrade will change a dated information management system first introduced in the 1970s, into a 21st century
world-class system providing better quality, more relevant information to manage the council's business.
City Manager Colin Dale says: "The BTP project is much more than new computer systems. The administrative changes that
are a big part of this project have already identified more than $1 million in savings and/or extra revenue".
"While it has been IT driven, the BTP project introduces a new way of doing business in Manukau with a change in
thinking by staff as to how they do their work" .
"It enables us to use our technology and in turn our staff to better meet the needs of our citizens, customers and the
community. In short, we'll be doing things smarter.
"The combination of improved systems and changed business practices means our staff are now working with more relevant
and better quality information in a much more streamlined and efficient manner."
The first stage of the project rollout was successfully completed this week with the second stage scheduled for August
11.
