Residents' Group Formed
The Raumati South Residents Group was formed at a meeting on 29 June. Nearly 70 residents attended the meeting and many others registered their interest.
Residents expressed concern at the lack of action on local issues by the District Council. Retaining the village identity and character and retaining a sense of community were prominent issues raised. Other issues discussed included high density housing, the sea wall, recreational areas, a proposed bird sanctuary, footpaths, septic tanks, the community plan, private roads and speeding vehicles.
A steering committee appointed by the meeting comprises Jane Bradbury, Cathy Collett, Jill Duncan, Jo Greening, Cree Hatfield, Rex Harris, Leon Kiel, Rita Klus, Gail Lewis, Wally Maher, William Scollay, Julia Wakeling and Darryl Ward.
The next Residents meeting will be held in the Valhalla Building, 31 Poplar Avenue, Raumati South on 24 August at 2:30 PM. All residents of Raumati South are welcome.
