New motorway on-ramps in Grafton Gully
From Saturday 21 June, motorists in Grafton Gully will have to take new routes to get onto the Southern (SH1) and the
Northwestern (SH16) motorways.
The existing Grafton Road on-ramp will close at 8pm on Friday 20 June, and from Saturday 21 June motorway access will be
via a new on-ramp. This on-ramp begins just after the Stanley Street/Alten Rd intersection and runs parallel to the new
port�bound section of motorway, which opened earlier this year.
Traffic coming from Grafton Road will access the new on-ramp via a temporary loop road which will be used until the new
Wellesley St Bridge on-ramps open later in the year.
While traffic signs and road marking will identify significant changes, motorists are asked to take note of new access
routes to both motorways:
From the Hospital/Grafton Rd:
Enter Stanley Street and use the temporary loop road to access the motorway.
From Symonds St/University:
a) Use Alten Rd, then turn right into Stanley St and the new on-ramp
b) Via Grafton Rd turn left into Stanley St and use the temporary loop road
From Beach Rd/Stanley St:
Continue straight ahead onto the new on-ramp
From Lower Domain Drive:
Turn left into Stanley St, then right into Grafton Rd and use Symonds St and Alten Rd to access the new on-ramp.

All work is subject to weather. If there is wet weather work will be postponed until the next clear night.
The opening of the new motorway access is a significant milestone for the Grafton Gully motorway upgrading project
which, when completed, will provide direct access between the motorway and the port.
