Traffic Diversion on Khyber Pass and Boston Road
Transit New Zealand advises that for a period of three weeks from Sunday 16 June, motorists can expect diversions in the Khyber Pass/Boston Road area. In place from 9 pm until 6 am each night, the diversions will be clearly signposted.
During the diversions, all westbound traffic on Khyber Pass Road, i.e. motorists heading towards Newton and the motorway, will be diverted through Boston Road.
Traffic heading east towards Newmarket will remain largely unaffected but directed to change lanes as required.
At the same time, Boston Road will be partly closed, with traffic coming from Mt Eden to Newmarket being diverted to Khyber Pass Road via Auburn Street.
The diversions are to allow essential strengthening work on the Khyber Pass Viaduct as part of Transit’s upgrading of the motorway’s Central Motorway Junction.
Transit expects minimal disturbance and thanks motorists in advance for their co-operation.
Further information about Stage 1 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction is available from the public information centre at the corner of Stanley St & Alten Rd or by phoning 0800 ToFreeflow (0800 863 733).
