City Council agrees park unlikely to be source of skin infection
Christchurch City Council will assist the local Community and Public Health (CPH) team in any investigation of cellulitis infection among some city rugby players but agrees with CPH that the condition is unlikely to be traced to one of its grounds.
Cellulitis is not uncommon in the sport and rugby codes in the past have been given information about countering its spread from player to player, the usual means of infection, a spokesperson for the Council says.
However, the City Council is happy to work with Community and Public Health in any way to ensure the city’s players feel confident about the safety of sports grounds and well informed about how to avoid the spread of any infection.
Christchurch City Council welcomes any assistance the news media can provide in ensuring accurate information is put before the public in this matter.
