Innovation Award For Hutt City's Wastewater Treatment Plant
The team that managed the planning and construction of Hutt City's Seaview wastewater treatment plant have been recognised with an IPENZ innovation award.
Hutt City Contracts Manager Alan Bannatyne and the MWH Project Pencarrow team received an IPENZ (Institute of Professional Engineers New Zealand) Innovation Award at an awards dinner held last month in Hamilton.
The joint submission from Hutt City Council and MWH covered more than fifteen years work in the planning and implementation of Project Pencarrow, which includes the new wastewater treatment plant at Seaview, and associated works in Wainuiomata.
Alan Bannatyne was particularly pleased to be recognised as part of the award winning team.
"Hutt residents can be confident that they have got a wastewater treatment system that delivers excellent value for money as well as obvious environmental benefits," said Alan Bannatyne, Divisional Manager Wastewater Project.
"MWH brought innovation to the project right from the beginning - from the very early stages of the scheme through to the new form of performance contract that was developed."
"I have no doubt that the level of innovation brought to the project, right from the start of the planning process, contributed greatly to the success of the whole project."
MWH acted as lead technical, scientific and project management adviser throughout the period and worked closely with Alan Bannatyne. Significant innovation delivered cost savings in excess of 20 per cent of the project costs.
